It belonged to my grandpa.</p> <p><em>(Info from <a href="http://filmphotographyproject.com/content/reviews/2011/08/kodak-brownie-hawkeye-box-cameras-style" target="_blank"><a href="http://filmphotographyproject.com">http://filmphotographyproject.com</a>)</a></em> <em>The Kodak Brownie Hawkeye was one of a long list of cameras called Brownie that Kodak manufactured beginning in 1900 and lasting throughout most of the 20th Century. The Hawkeye model debuted in 1949 and production lasted through 1951.  </em></p> <p><em>In 1950, however, Kodak introduced the Flash model which lasted through 1961. The Flash model allowed the use of the accessory “Kodalite Flasholder,” which synchronized with the shutter. Otherwise the two models were the same.</em></p> <p><em>Although designed to use 620 film, one of this camera’s delightful attributes is that you can use 120 without modification or re-spooling. The 120 spools fit nicely in the film delivery side, but they’re too fat for the take-up side so you have to use the thinner 620 spool there.<br/></em></p> <p><em><br/></em>OK, first step: cleaning the camera. It’s 18th of April 1971. Jim Morrison wakes up in Paris and writes the following tweet: <strong>Album is gonna released tomorrow. w00t! w00t! Last night, I was skyping with Ray and we ‘re all so excited about it!</strong></span></p> <p><span>OK? Now dig this! It’s 1966 and John Lennon updates his Facebook page with the following. <strong>We’re gonna use some new recording techniques on vocals! Oh man, it sounds awesome. Very trippy! I love multitracking! </strong></span></p> <p><span>And of course, Prince would upload a half nude picture of Apollonia on Instagram with the following caption: <strong>Y don’t U purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka?</strong> <em>needless to say, there would be more than 10000 likes.</em></span></p> <p><span>One of the reasons that we love Beatles, Prince or Doors, is that we <strong>DIDN’T</strong> know their daily routine or what they think of <strong>everything</strong> that happens in the world. We didn’t know their kids’ names, their kids’ nannies or their gardeners. We had no idea if they hang out with other celebrities and we didn’t see any PARTEEEEE photos. Oh…and no “Go Knicks GO!”…</span></p> <p><span>And it was better. There were no bells and whistles, no “you should be on Twitter” marketing strategy plan, no compliment retweets. There was a certain magic about them. All we had was the music, the lyrics, some magazine interviews and maybe a TV interview. </span></p> <p><span>Why am I telling you this?</span></p> <p><span>I’ve started following one of my favorite artists on Twitter. I loved his music, so when I found him on Twitter, I followed him instantly. I would love to hear more from him. </span></p> <p>Believe it or not, Twitter KILLED his image for me. His posts were extremely annoying (at least), too many “I’m currently featured in…” and “I’ve recorded guitar, now let’s work on the Rhodes’ parts”. DON’T TELL ME THAT! Don’t give me EVERY little detail about your music and life. Don’t listen to your marketing guru telling you that you <strong>should</strong> tweet, you <strong>should</strong> be funny, you <strong>should</strong> be interesting.
